horsemanship - parelli

Horseback riding is the most common and most under-regulated form of interaction between humans and horses. Too many, who know too little, have access to a horses back and it is that interaction where humans fail horses most.

The Backwater Sanctuary has now tied up with Parelli Professional Namoi Moro to encourage a more conscious method of riding that focuses on building a connection between horse and human.

If we change the way we look at our horses and the way we ride, we can have a massive and positive impact on Equine Welfare as a whole.

Namoi Moro is a Parelli Professional, a horse trainer and instructor.

Namoi has over a decade of experience working with horses, and continues to teach the practice of Parelli to students across the globe.

“The secret is playing with your horse , and working on yourself “

Why Parelli?

Parelli isn’t a method or a style of riding , but a way to create a foundation for horse and human that is based on communication , and mutual respect and trust. A Parelli student learns how a horse works in all his parts ;

  • Physical - his anatomy and how different parts influence each other.

  • Mental - what the horse thinks of us, how he acts towards his environment, and their will to do something for and with us.

  • Emotional - handling emotions and understanding which once is presenting itself in that moment

All this is studied both from the ground and in the saddle. Anything done at a high level is simple the basics done with excellence, whether it’s for English riding , Western riding , competitions, trail riding , or even just spending time with your horse . Parelli is a program that teaches humans and by consequence their horses . Horsemanship is nothing more than a series of good habits and principles, following the natural instincts of horses .
